Meghshala has grown into a movement reshaping classrooms across India. By equipping teachers with practical tools and high-quality resources, Meghshala has empowered thousands of educators to deliver more engaging and effective learning experiences to students. Today, the organisation is endorsed by multiple state governments and supports more than 11,000 teachers, who use over 9,000 lesson plans to reach students in more than 3,000 schools.
From its very inception, Lucid partnered with Meghshala to craft a distinctive and meaningful identity. Inspired by the fluid simplicity of traditional Warli painting linework, the visual identity evolves into a monogram of the letters “M” and “S.” The subtle emergence of an elephant within the form is intentional: elephants symbolise intelligence, empathy, strong social bonds, and remarkable memory - qualities that resonate deeply with Meghshala’s vision for transformative education.
As Meghshala steadily built a rich library of clear, engaging, and informative lesson content, a new challenge emerged: creating an intuitive and effective way for teachers to access and use these resources in real classroom environments. To support adoption, Meghshala even provided tablets to schools, helping bring digital lessons directly into classrooms.
Yet the complexity of day-to-day teaching quickly became apparent. Multiple teachers often shared the same device, each requiring a personalized dashboard and seamless access to their own schedules and materials. Teachers also needed to navigate lessons spanning different subjects, grade levels, and teaching days—all while balancing two distinct modes of use: preparing for a lesson in advance and actively delivering it in the classroom. Designing a system that could gracefully support these overlapping needs became a critical part of the challenge.
The app’s design language is fresh, expressive, and highly approachable, balancing educational utility with a playful sense of personality. Rather than relying solely on conventional functional UI patterns, the experience fosters positive engagement through a thoughtfully considered visual hierarchy and intuitive, logic-driven interactions. A predominantly neutral palette is punctuated with carefully placed saturated tones, bringing joy, energy, and a sense of optimism to the overall experience.
Intrinsic to the project was a request from Meghshala’s founder to collaborate with Kai Mirchandani, a young pen-and-ink artist, to create a whimsical world of animals woven throughout the app experience. These illustrations were intended to bring warmth, personality, and moments of delight to the platform, fostering a stronger sense of engagement and endearment among teachers using the app.
